Bitch or Broad - it really doesn’t matter what the ‘B’ stands for. ODB, real name Jessica Kresa, grew up in an athletic environment. Ice Hockey was her primary sport which was encouraged by her father. Her enjoyment of Ice Hockey resulted in her becoming the captain at her high school and then later becoming a star on her University hockey team.
Kresa’s interests heightened though as she began taking up MMA in 2003. To date she has just one record - a loss to Kelly Kobold-Gavin - after deciding to pursue her interest in wrestling. Kresa applied for Tough Enough 1 and made the final twenty-five but fell short when the final thirteen were chosen. She returned home and began training immediately and soon enough joined several independent promotions including IWA-MS.
In doing this Kresa adopted the ODB name. ODB also began competing with men, most notably Ken Anderson (WWE’s Mr. Kennedy) and Shawn Daivari (formerly of WWE). She also got into the ring with women such as Angel Williams. Her first national exposure came in 2004 where she had a short feud with Trinity on TNA television. In 2006 though she chose to undergo training in Ohio Valley Wrestling.
During her time in OVW she became the first unofficial OVW Women’s Champion, despite them not actually having a Championship to contend for. Eventually Danny Davis accepted the claim and allowed ODB to be crowned the first OVW Women’s Champion. Unfortunately for ODB though she lost her title to Katie Lea on November 1, 2006. A feud ignited between the two but the Championship didn’t change hands.
In 2007 ODB won the first Miss OVW competition which saw her partake in activities such as bikini contests. The beer-drinking loud-mouth sought aid from Victoria Crawford who worked her charm on ODB, although it didn’t all rub off. The competition reignited the Katie Lea and ODB feud, on June 1 2007 the two had a match for the Championship where ODB won the belt.
ODB dropped the belt to Milena Roucka in a six-way match after being contacted by TNA to appear at the Bound for Glory event. The rumour was confirmed on TNA Today and ODB went on to compete in gauntlet match but didn’t win the Championship. Weeks later TNA announced the signing of ODB. Since then ODB competed in a fatal fourway at Genesis for the TNA Women’s Championship, which was won by Gail Kim.
ODB went on to gain huge fan support, especially after winning a Knockouts Gauntlet that placed her at the top of the TNA Knockouts Championship Rankings. After defeating Angelina Love at the beginning of 2008 she challenged Champion Awesome Kong to a match at the Against All Odds pay-per-view.
